Say hello to Neurift City's resident gym leader. An impressive title in it's own right. It means she's trusted enough to assess the capability of challenging trainers and determine whether or not they're suitable to go take on the big guys. Honestly, Esmer couldn't care less about how honourable her position seems to be. The only reason she took the job was because it offered some kind of protection from those extremest gijinka haters in society. The state of her DMA is something she hides very well but even if she were to undergo suspicion there's not many who would outright attack a gym leader. Personality wise she may very well be the one of the laziest people you meet. She doesn't like exerting energy on tasks she thinks are pointless and would much rather layabout doing nothing. Secrecy plays a big role in her life being what she is and has ever since her parents were killed because of it back home in Black City. Realistically speaking she would be more comfortable and more wiling to interact with other gijinka than humans.

Friends are always a nice thing to have but due to her past she'll often be suspicious of anyone attempting to befriend her and conflicted of whether the gesture is genuine or not. So yeah, trust issues. Granted there'll probably be some people she just hits it off with; it's not impossible. She wasn't totally shut off from the world in childhood and found herself getting into fights often as a young girl, a friend from then would be nice. She also spent a while on her pokemon journey through Unova so there would have been plenty of opportunity to meet new people. After her parents death she packed bags without a word and headed to Lyeant. Just hit me with whatever you have c:

People who hate her? Hm. Well there's the whole supporters of human superiority thing going on. She's bound to earn some hatred from people who hate gijinkas, only case being that she hides it pretty darn well since all she has to how for it is the tail of a houndoom which is easily concealed on her part. She might accidentally sneeze a plume of flames now and then but not likely ever in public. She might be disliked for her lazed personality and seen as unfit to be a gym leader because of it although she takes her challenges seriously enough. On reverse axis she'd rather not waste energy hating someone for a bogus reason but speaking happily or dismissively about the death of gijinka around her raises her blood pressure something fierce. She likes to remain neutral in her outlooks of species but humans like that are making more difficult than it needs to be.

Whatever happens happens. Those are Esmer's views when it comes to romance and whatnot. She's undoubtedly heterosexual in her orientation, she's had a few short-term relationships with both genders over the years but nothing too intimate due to her status. The idea of searching for 'the one' makes her laugh, she finds it stupid to assume there's an indefinite match to every individual on the earth. She'd pride a friendship over a lovelife any day.
