Her favorite feeling is sending off young trainers on the beginning of their journey. She's also always open to seeing trainers she started off whenever they wish. Professor Juniper often grows attached to anyone seeking her aid or knowledge. She's easily attached to people who show her the slightest of fondness. That goes for lovers, trainers she helps, other professors...anyone. She didn't have a mother growing up, so a part of her longs to be nurtured. Which is why she makes it a point to be welcoming and generous to most everyone she meets.
As kind and loving as she may be, Professor Juniper has her own insecurities. A sneaking fear of hers is that she was too dedicated to her studies and pokemon research to ever find love, or to have a family. But then, she reminds herself that she has family in her Pokemon and in the people she shares her knowledge with. In her heart, she's lonesome and wishes for some kind of romance, but she has come to terms with the fact that it might not ever happen for her.
Speaking of insecurities, Miss Juniper has a lot of nervous habits. She twists loose pieces of her hair when she's anxious, she'll stammer when flustered and blush, she will also reorganize her laboratory when she's nervous or bored. She's kind of a neat freak, so her work spaces are always clean and in pristine condition. And she, herself, usually doesn't look like there is a hair out of place. The Professor keeps herself looking fit, professional, and like a total lab-rat (not on purpose, it just happens).
Emotions are one thing Miss Junie isn't short on. She cries at sad movies, she laughs (loudly) when people are funny, and has the biggest, bleeding heart anyone's ever seen. She's sympathetic and often has a hard time telling people "no" when they ask a favor. In fact, if you're not causing harm to anyone, the answer will likely be "yes." Of course, some people will take advantage of her over-willing personality. She's been put in tight situations because of things she told people she would do, or things she agreed to that weren't exactly what she had in mind.
She's quite nerdy, for lack of a better term. Of course, she is, she's a Professor. Juniper is quite fond of books, she's got countless diaries filled with research and plausible questions, and she's also very interested in art. A lot of papers will have doodles of hers in the corners, or she'll spend a whole day studying the anatomy of Pokemon, spending hours drawing their muscle and skeletal structures. Some of her sketch books are filled with anatomical relations between modern pokemon and ancient pokemon; thus her interest being specifically on the beginning of the Pokemon breed.
What gets under her skin are bullies. The Professor cannot stand them, as she was victim to quite a few bullies when she was younger. She was a sickly girl, and still is, and was very frail so standing up for herself wasn't an option. Today, if she sees anyone getting bullied, she'll be sure to end it quickly. |
| [attr="class","puppy"] [attr="class","puppy2"] [attr="class","puppy3"]history | [attr="class","puppy4"] While she was born and raised in the Unova region, Aurea can't call a single city her home. With her father being a researcher as well, the two of them moved around quite a lot. Her mother was a very sickly woman, and passed on shortly after Aurea turned three. She has few, but fond memories of her mother. Cedric, her father, did the best he could to keep his little girl happy. In fact, she was given her beloved Minccino when she turned six. Junie tended to be a lonely little girl, and also kept to her books and studies when school-years began, so a Pokemon was exactly what she needed. Half the reason she was picked on in school was because she was such an easy target. Juniper was very laid back, very gentle, and everyone knew that she wouldn't lift a finger to hurt anything. It was also because she was very smart and they wanted to steal her homework; although she would've given them answers if they had just asked. Thankfully, when she became an older teen, her fellow classmates had matured up and decided to either let her befriend them, or to leave her alone.
Once she turned eighteen, inspired by her father, Aurea chose to pursue research over training. Of course, she never really wanted to be a trainer; she would've begun her journey much sooner if that were the case. As she always had, Aurea preferred reading and studying as opposed to field work and battles. She does enjoy training her Pokemon, though. She only has five of her own, but she's seen many over the course of her travels and research. With the help of her father and her own intelligence, she became the Professor in Nueva town; setting up her own laboratory and research equipment there. It was a good spot for new trainers as well; for she instantly began sending kids off with their first pokemon after she returned from a few years of travel/research.
Her favorite region, aside from Unova of course, is Jhoto. She obtained a Chikorita there, one of her favorite Pokemon as well. She went there to research more about the origins of the Pokemon species; having taken a particular interest in it after noticing some striking similarities in anatomy between an ancient Pokemon and one that is commonly known now days. She was quite impressed with herself for taking note of that, too. Jhoto had a very nostalgic aura to it; Aurea found herself very happy in Jhoto, and would return multiple times for research projects or to meet up with other professors in the area. On one of her following returns to the region, her Eevee was gifted to her from a good friend of hers. It eventually evolved into an Espeon after a good few years of bonding and lax training.
When she was twenty seven, her practice as a professor was going very well, and she was enjoying herself. Of course, once things in her professional life began to level out, her personal life took a spring upward. Aurea fell in love. He too, was a Pokemon researcher and reminded her much of her father. His name was Darius and he and Aurea met while in the ruins of the Kanto region. Of course, Aurea didn't live in the area but she was willing to stay because of Darius. Her lab in Unova, thankfully, was left in the hands of her father and her assistants while she spent a few years in Kanto. It was the only true romance Junie ever had, and it ended because she was too dedicated to her work to give true time to Darius. He was in love with research more than he was with Aurea, and she felt the same way about her own work. The two ended it and she returned to her home in Unova. They often share research finds and other tips with one another, still today.
Aurea has actually lost a Pokemon before. Sometimes, she gets carried away with her research and doesn't remember to be safe when working in the field. Plus, at the time, she hadn't spent much time in the field at all. At 21, She was inexperienced and overly thrilled about her work. The young Poliwag she had out for company got crushed by large, heavy equipment Professor Juniper and her assistants had been using. It had just stormed, so the ground was slick and muddy. Not having noticed her Pokemon wandering off, Juniper turned it all on, only to have it shift in an unfortunate direction and kill the poor thing. Aurea felt horrible, and didn't forgive herself for a long time. Even still, she visits the burial site she made for Poliwag very frequently and pays her respects, often leaving little flowers and sentiments like that.
Training her Pokemon was always just a hobby. Aurea never battled, so she didn't need to teach her Pokemon how to. She does enjoy it, so she spends extra time she has to teach them new moves and to level them up. Or just to spend time with them; a grand majority of her team is quite competitive, so they train against one another. For a woman her age, her Pokemon should probably be quite a bit stronger and more battle-experienced than they are; but she loves them none the less. Most of them have evolved to their final forms, which helps in her research of anatomy. Sometimes she wishes she had better trained her Pokemon for battle, because her lab has been stolen from a couple of times in the past, for something as major as a starter pokemon, and for things as little as a potion. No one has ever gotten away with stealing, but they left quite a bit of damage, and perhaps they wouldn't of if Aurea had taught her team better. Her gentle nature just...kind of blocks out violence. She has a bad habit of seeing the world through rose tinted glasses.
Now as she's matured, Aurea has settled down in Nueva Town, and stays more stationary and closer to home for her research. She doesn't often travel outside the region unless for vacation or visiting another professor. Most of the time, people can find her inside her lab tending to her multitude of computers, or around back outside where she's watering her roses and entertaining her Pokemon. |
