The teenager inhaled the smell of brine that rolled over the city along with the haze. Today’s weather was simply terrible. Dark grey clouds rolled over the landscape with impressive speed. The chances on thunderstorms were high today, but it didn’t seem to affect Nehachi’s mood in the slightest. As she made her way quickly past rubble towards her destination, the girl barely took notice of her dreary surroundings. She barely cringed at the low rumbling in the distance, too occupied in listening to a special broadcast from an mp3 player in her pocket. Once in a while she would wave at her partner, who lurked in the shadows. Al, as she called him would’ve preferred staying dry thank you very much. Despite his protests to stay indoors, his trainer had dragged him out all this way for a stupid rumor.
“Don’t be such a party pooper, Al~” the sable haired teenager stated popping out one of her ear buds and letting it dangle in the wind. The Gengar only muttered something floating closer to the girl as she gazed up excitedly at their destination, a decrepit radio station. According to her information, the station was always broadcasting at a certain time without fail despite being run down. Reports varied about what lurked inside but the consensus was it wasn’t very pleasant looking. Of course, she had investigated similar locations before and had always been pleased to meet an adorable ghost type lurking around. However, one that could hold a different broadcast for half an hour every day was rare. Ghost types could imitate the human voice but to Nehachi’s knowledge they couldn’t say much.
Whatever the case was, she was going to get to the bottom of it. Judging by the state of the place it didn’t look too hard to get in. She roughly shoved the door before looking it over. Locked and it didn’t just fall in. “Too much effort…” she muttered, not even trying to kick down the door. She beckoned her companion before floating straight past the door. The young woman grinned, eyes darting around the hall as she made her way through trying to find the correct radio booth. It all just looked like abandoned cubicles and meeting rooms. Where was the recording booth? She had enough time to find it before the show ended at least. As the gijinka investigated the higher levels she began to wonder if she even found the correct station. For all she knew there could be another located elsewhere in the ruins of the city.
“See any rotoms, Al?” she whispered, shoving her hands into her parka’s pockets. The Pokémon grunted, before perking up as he spotted a light down one of the floors hallways. Quickly, he went back for his trainer before the pair slunk towards the station booth that was being operated. Nehachi could barely contain her excitement, shiver racing up and down her spine as they grew closer. If she had a functional heart it would have probably been pounding in her ribcage. “What’d we get? What’d we get?!” she squeaked as they phased through the door that led to the active recording booth.
