| [attr="class","puppy"] [attr="class","puppy2"] [attr="class","puppy3"]history | [attr="class","puppy4"]marley - no, rather, mew at the time - was born on an uncharted island far from any of the main regions today. it was the very frist pokemon, apart from arceus, and was the first creature created by said being. it is assumed that the cheerful young pokemon was created to keep the deity company in the empty world of his. for that reason, the two grew very fond of one another during the early years that they spent together, claiming the world as their shared domain and enjoying it to the fullest. however, as decades passed, it became achingly lonely and, quite honestly, boring on poke'earth. she begged the higher being to create more of them, all unique and creative in their own ways so that they could all be happy together. after all, he had created her - how much more difficult would it be to make a few more? she offered her own make up, her dna to assist in the creation of others like themselves, hoping to always have a little part of herself in every other pocket monster that would come to the world. with much pleading, the female's wish was granted and, on command, arceus created articuno, zapdos, and moltres to share the world with them. over the span of time, lugia, ho-oh, entei, raijou, suicune, and celebii came to join them, each departing to their own little corner of the world and claiming it as their own.
centuries ticked by and the remainder of his glorious creations - later to be known as "legendary pokemon" - were created. however, despite every legendary that came and went, no one held a stronger bond than the first two pocket monsters. while they each broke off into their own groups, splitting towards lands that would one day come to be known as "regions", mew stayed by arceus' side in what would later be known as sinnoh, promising to make up for giving birth to the others. many of said others great slightly jealous, however, of the relationship the original two had, causing them to call the higher beings out on this. from there, to try an appease the legendaries, arceus began to create the more common types of Pokemon to live underneath them all and revere them as "special". while this did not solve the apparent favoritism the pink creature recieved, it most certianly gave them something to do. all accusations came to an abrupt halt shortly afterward.
with his world swiftly becoming populated, arceus decided it was time to create another form of beings seperate from the pocket monsters as sort of an "experiment". it was then that he created poke'earth's first humans, watching them carefully so see how they interacted with his people. though they were created obviously weaker than the pokemon, the mirrored beings seemed to see themselves on the same level - if not on an even higher one - than the animal-like figures around them. arceus, though, did not dispose of them as quickly as the others expected after having seen the relationship they formed with the common pokemon, playing and working along side them as though they'd done it for centuries before. in fact, after seeing this unexpected and delightful result, he even went as far as to create more and let them populate every corner of the world, pleased at what had become of the world he had created centuries ago. while many of the other, more strong creatures were upset with the human population being let loose, others like the pinkette herself were happy, even going as far as to try to speak with and converse with these new people.
but the humans were arrogant and observant. the moment they bore witness to the legendaries was the moment they made it their goal to hunt them down and trap them to keep as their own. when they stole shaymin, locking it away for no one else to see again, arceus grew furious and prepared to wipe out their race. some of his underlings had grown fond of the humans, sadly, or thought outrunning them would be an interesting sort of sport and insisted that the people they'd once had a distaste for be left alone. though hesitantly, their leader agreed and let the situation be. shaymin was never recovered. to make up for the loss, a good number were made to replace her to insure that - if one were ever to be captured like she - there would always be one to take their place.
the hunting and capturing of the rare pokemon did not stop, though, with shaymin. rumor even spread that work on an invention to seal them away into small orbs, cubes, or something of the sort was under way in order to gain complete control over the stronger figures. mew often ignored the warnings of visiting populated areas in fear that someone as sweet as herself would be fooled into eternal prison and, sadly, just that happened to her. ... Nearly. a particularly persistant hunter made it his goal to pin the cat-like creature down and make her his own, leaving her on the run for what seemed like weeks. exhausted, she collapsed near the home of another human family. however, unlike many of the others she'd encountered, these particular people were not interested in all at stealing her away from her friend and creator. instead, they assisted in helping her become well again, using various medical and natural cures over a span of time until she was completely healthy again. once healthy, she'd planned to hit the road and report back to the others... if it hadn't been for one tiny thing.
she'd fallen in love with their son.
odd as it may have been and as little words from his mouth that had been aimed towards her during that time, she'd come to recognize what she felt toward him as the emotion they called just that. love. for quite some time, she hung around the family's home, trying to impress the young man in anyway she could, whether it be using her ability to transform into any pokemon at will or simply trying to sharm him with her "adorable" looks. but all they ever saw it as was her trying to play or her growing fond of them. which she had, of course, but that wasn't what was causing her to act so irrationally. the language barrier between their people was what really made things difficult. in the end, she learned that time for them, unlike her, was not infinant and, as she spent her years by his side - him completely unaware of her feelings towards him - she watched him grow from teenager, to adult, to elder, to just another body burried six feet in the dirt. distraught at her lost love, she swore to protect his family name at all costs until they shooed her away or simply did not require her presence in the least. for nearly two centuries, she watched the generations tick by from afar, laughing at their jokes and crying at their loses as though she were one of their children as well. but fate has a funny way of toying with her when the latest branch of the family packed their sinnoh bags and moved away to a place she could not follow - kanto. with a heavy heart, she returned to arceus, not yet feeling complete.
and then arceus himself was attacked. a human, an ambitious little maggot, had located the deity's position and, with a set of fairly high leveled pokemon, tried to pin him down and trap him with one of the earliest and not very reliable versions of the poke' ball. while their efforts to trap him failed and his party of six were wiped out, the creator himself was far from being in fit condition. enraged at the "betrayal of his own models", he planned - once more - to kill them all off, displeased with how his little "experiment" was turning out. remember the boy she'd loved, the people who'd cared for her, and the ones she'd cared for in turn, mew was quick to defend them, claiming that he could not punish them all for the mistake of one single person. the two were thrown into anarchy, verbal barbs being tossed viciously at the other and ending in nearly a flat out pokemon battle. in the end, the pink pocket monster fled to kanto to continue her guardianship over her people, leaving arceus' rage replaced with regret and a sense of dread.
things, however, were not much better in kanto than they were in sinnoh. still bitter about the events that transpired before her sudden transfer, she found it hard to focus on protecting the generations that flew by her like paper in a strong wind. in fact, she falled to rescue a boy of hardly seven as he slipped and tumbled off the cliff, blaming herself for the incident and falling deeper into a pit of despare. as years, decades, centuried passed her by, she decided to take a break from the madness and flew to her home island - faraway island - and spent a good number of years there in solitude. on rare occations, a powerful trainer would arrive in cearch of the mythical creature she was, but she'd always manage to slip out unscathed in the end. she was prepared to return back to her home region of kanto, though, when horrible news met her. arceus has gone missing and humans were the ones the other legendaries thought to blame. by the time mew returned home, the others had already come up with an ingenius skill that allowed them to fuse with humans and hide themselves in plain site. while the idea seemed grotesque and selfish, the pinkette couldn't help but blame herself for his sudden departure and made it her job to track him down and save him.
returning to the family she'd sworn to protect, she found the newest daughter - a girl by the name of marley and hardly fourteen years of age - wandering off on her own. while it killed her to do so, she ambushed the young woman and quickly merged with her, casting the inferior's soul to the abyss and taking swift control over her body. from there, she stole the girl's name and her father's, as well - the man she'd helped protect and raise from afar not long ago - arranging them in a manner that her initials spelled out who she really was: mew. for a while, her efforts were entirely put into hunting down her creator. however, one day, she passed down the girl's family, watching as they sobbed over their missing daughter in horror. washed over in a wave of guilt once more, she made it her duty to - for one last time - approach the family and let them know that their daughter would return to them, leaving them at as much ease as they could without the young girl actually in their arms.
working together with the other legendaries to track down and return arceus was a rather tedious process. for starters, not all of them were the most humble of creatures - their deity-like status among humans swelling their heads - and marley's overall distaste of social interaction made cooperation all the more unbearable. however, after months of annoyance and dead ends in their search, leo minucci, the leader of the minder party, revealed his secret weapon to all: the god pokemon itself. working together with the other legendaries, besser, and any human outraged by the capture of the ultimate deity, they managed to defeat leo and reclaim arceus. with the besser and minder war drawn to a close and arceus back where he belonged, many of the legendaries cast away their human forms, letting the souls that had resided in them originally return, and all things went back to the way they were.
for the most part.
a handful of the legendaries, their reasons all varied, chose to remain in their human vessels, whether it be for a bit longer or indefinitely. the pinkette was one of these individuals. while she had promised the original marley's family that their kin would be returned to them soon, she found it too difficult to confront them, or even part with the body she had grown so used to. two years have passed and she still has been unable to keep her promise; by now, she's beginning to wonder if she ever can. |
